Re: Forum upgrade

In the unlikely event anybody's looking at this, I've upgraded the forums again to phpBB 3.1.x. The style we were using ("ca_black") isn't currently compatible with 3.1, and I don't have time to upgrade it manually, but I'll maybe check again in a while and see if I can upgrade it.

Any problems ...

Forum upgrade

Hey all,

As you can see, the Ents forum now has a new location on entscrew.net, and is now running a significantly newer version of the phpBB software. Unfortunately, the old theme you all know and love has not been updated for phpBB3, so I couldn't bring that along, but I've replaced it with ...

You had a dream last night about being back in St Andrews and teching a bop several months after you left. Several of you were in it, strangely enough.

In other news, expect a visit from me perhaps in early February, hopefully. Maybe around Rag Week. (When is it this year?)

Nice work there, you've certainly been busy! If it ends up raining heavily again (it usually does here in Brazil at the moment...) I may see about making a few contributions myself!

I've added a redirect to the wiki here:

www.entscrew.net/wiki

in addition to the link to the forum:

The sockets marked 3 and 4 on the pearl don't work

Hmm, they don't? I'm sure I used at least socket 3 a few months ago and it worked.

I will likely be in on Monday and/or Tuesday for rigging, and I shall be lurking around for the rest of the week here or there (although I don't promise to be ...

Depending of course on where you're placing everything, I'd just run a third universe if you need to. Might be handy for stage stuff at least.

Shame about the laser. Still, with all the stuff we're hiring in, the laser might have got a bit 'lost' anyway!

I am ignoring those links until Tuesday. And the Eurovision diary. Lots of lovely reading once exams are done...

Just noticed that there is in fact a 2009 diary around: clickity-click. I'll no doubt be having a read of that tomorrow instead of revising. :P

The swimming pool suspended above the stage with fancy lighting just now was quite something!

2 would seem more than enough. Those things are seriously bright. We've had them in venue 1 before, and they light up the venue pretty well - when on the fastest strobe setting, the venue is probably brighter than with all the strips on (and would probably cause a few fits if they could sustain it ...

MagicQ PC

Somebody linked me to ChamSys , who offer a free version of their lighting console in PC form, MagicQ PC. All you need is an appropriate USB to DMX converter. I've not tried it, but it might be worth looking into - if only to provide us with a backup "desk" for relatively simple shows (ie, shows for ...

Sorry to hear that, Phil, hope it goes well next semester! My overall grade is still rather close to the borderline, but my project is the main thing that is important just now (since that's 30 credits), although of course I will have to make sure I work hard this coming semester. I have one less ...

Did we all do OK? I seem to be on course for my 2:1, so I'm happy enough.
