Microsoft Office tends to work fairly well under Wine or CrossOver, Keith. Certainly 97, 2000, XP and 2003 should work OK, 2007 might have a few more issues. I've never been too fond of OpenOffice either, I use MS Office on my Windows machine and my Mac quite happily (and I don't use Linux enough as...

Yes, Windows 7 is, technically speaking, Windows 6.1. Which just seems rather stupid to me. Either release it as "Windows 6.1", or release it as "Windows 7" and give it the version number of 7.0. I notice Microsoft tends to go in a pattern of "Windows suckiness", with a...

950? Wow, a lot more than I expected, wish I was there now... wouldn't have been good for catching my flight the next morning though methinks!

Heh, I couldn't remember if I'd come across it before, no doubt it probably has been linked to before. Tis a handy site, anyway!

I assume he meant the material that was covering the sign in front of the beer bar, which I gather was covered up many years ago for Question Time. It came down at the start of the last academic year, I think.

Other techie resources online

Found a site called Blue Room today. Probably some of you will already know it, but it seems to have quite a lot of useful information on it, particularly in its wiki. Worth a read, perhaps. It even has an article on gaffer gunk!

Those who were there last night will of course have noticed that I was waving my camera around a bit at the start of the night, before anybody was in. Here are a few of the better pictures: http://www.owenrudge.net/various/bop-2009-01-16/DSC_0176.JPG http://www.owenrudge.net/various/bop-2009-01-16/D...

Ah, I somehow missed this thread. I did end up at the bop last night, though - a reasonable turnout (for the middle of exam time) by the end of the night.

Hmm, that does seem to be the case, yes.

I was intending to upgrade the forum at some point to the newest version of phpBB. I'll have to speak to Niall to get the details, but that would hopefully sort out any issues (the search is broken on this site, too) that we currently have.

The server is always a bit dodgy on results night - too many students trying to get them all at once, plus it takes a few hours for them all to be loaded on it seems. Anyway, my results were so-so - they could do with being a bit better, really, but could have been a lot worse. Shall just have to pu...
