3k for a replacement for the enigma? It would also be programmable, where as i think only 2 people know how to program the enigma.

Or you could get an azure shadow, the next model up from AC lighting for the same price
If you can't fix it with gaffa, you haven't used enough!

The Azure is a good desk for the bop with a good set of fader and button combinations. As I've probably mentioned before, it was the first desk I used to light the bop (whilst our only DMXed desk at the time was in hospital).

But, we would still need to justify the expense, as the Enigma is still fully functional (albeit not programmed) and can still be argued to be a suitable desk for the bop.

As for number of programmers for the Enigma: a few more could learn how to do it...using the manual!

Perhaps the best option would be to hire one in to see how it is before committing 3k to a new console.
