Themed bops

Would it be possible to have a themed bop sometime?
by themed bop i mean like a specific style of music as well as punters. I think that sometimes people come to an 80's night or something and find out that it is just a normal bop with a few different things on VJ.

what do people think of doing like a retro bop/something similar and having music of the theme for, say, the last 2 hours or something?

That sounds like a good idea. We've tried that in the past, but the DJs havn't always stuck to the theme! Your idea of it only being the last couple of hours or so that the music is themed for might make it more do-able.

Btw, is anyone else back/never left St Andrews?

I'm back, indeed. Also wondering if anyone else is going to be signing up to do that bop on Friday, I don't really fancy trying to do it singlehandedly. ;) Shall send Chris or someone an e-mail later in the week I daresay.

obviously this will require a DJ who CAN stick to music from a certain theme so i would suggest against some of the newer DJs (such as myself) instead maybe some with more experience (like G, mowhawk, Kris etc) just because they might have a better idea of how to do this. I know that mowhawk has a lot of 80's music but i guess we should also get some from ITunes or something

with a little practice anybody can do anything.

Personally i quite like the idea of having the last two hours as something different, we could possibly expand on that idea, but this is something we would need to discuss further.

Sounds like there's a lot of backing for this.
Once CC has given it the go ahead I vote that spike should work with Craig and other DJs to come up with a program (since it was his idea)

Owen... I'm going to be back on Friday for the Bop.
PM me your mobile number and I'll call you when I arrive in town.
Alternatively you can find my mobile number on my facebook profile.

I'm back from my trips and will be there on friday. I was going to Dj the bop with jen.
Im going to be busy from 6.30 untill probably around 8.30 and so was going to come in earlier in the afternoon to set up the stage. Is anyone else around to help? Or is there anything else going on?

Anyways Owen if you fancie a bop i need to orginise the next few weeks dj's. Tuesdays and Fridays so let me know when is good.

Also it would defenately be a good idea to have music prepaired in advance for a themed bop. It would need to be advertised well too I think. Would it be a good idea to replace a cheeky tuesday with a cheesy cheeky tuesday. (thats a mouthful) would it go down well on a friday. Anyway Ive got a bit of 80's music for whoever wants to do it (ahem spike! ).

I can come in tomorrow afternoon sometime if you like - what sort of time are you planning on heading in? Got some things to get done tomorrow, but can surely pop by to give you a hand if you want to set up in the afternoon.

Cheers,
