Shiney new lights
I have been in discussion with bruce for a while now about the possibility of replacing the movers on the centre rig with some more beefy units. With that in mind a number of ?20,000 was brought up as a provisional approximate budget.
This means that we're looking at ~?2,500 per fixture to get 8 high power spots, for example the Clay Paky alpha spot 300
Gearsource link (copy all of this into your browser, don't just click as it wont work)

AM not sure we have the power or the loading to support such lights, however I did find THESE Which look very sexy and a distinct possibility. Well under proposed budget as well!

How about the "wiggly PARs" in the cellar? They move...and are bright.
I believe they can be fitted with 575W lamps. Unfortunately, they run on 120V, which is only used by barbarians.
=Serious Section=
Any lights brighter than 250W would be a big improvement. The Alpha 300s look very interesting... supposedly have great optics, but would be expensive to purchase new. MAC 500s are bright, and proven within the industry. However, buying ex-rental/ex-tour gear hasn't worked out so well for us in the past. Our experiences with the Pearl come to mind rather quickly.
What would we do with the surplus inventory after the purchase? We'd have a lot of ProSpots lying around (assuming that they aren't broken/MIA). The Technobeams would also become largely redundant (sell them and buy pixeline to put in the centre of the rig?)
(Also, does this mean that the Union's financial situation has improved dramatically over the past year?)
