Re: You spend too much time doing ents when
Obviously, I have not been in Ents long enough... (my answers are in bold), Andrew Feel free to add to.... You know, and can identify each DMX cable, and have names for them in your head No You refer to yourself as a lampy, noise boy, or Vidiot No You get a Bruce Name No - If he has one, I have ...

The Azure is a good desk for the bop with a good set of fader and button combinations. As I've probably mentioned before, it was the first desk I used to light the bop (whilst our only DMXed desk at the time was in hospital). But, we would still need to justify the expense, as the Enigma is still ...

ah - good to know. How does the splitter know to send one signal one way and the other the other? Josh equaly how does the pearl send 1024 signals though a port designed to only send 512? 5 pin DMX - normally 1 & 2 are signal, 5 is ground, 3 &4 unused. 5 pin Pearl output - 1 & 2 are universe A's ...

Ah, No. We have 6 of the 10 Prospots. 4 on the octagon (the first 4 addresses), 2 on stage. Hence i have programmed over the 4 prospots we dont have. Also the pearl dosn't take anything though universe 3 or 4, i am trying to work out why, but i doubt i will figure it out between now and then, hence ...

I am not sure what you meen by removing prospots in favor of Movitecs - the only prospots i have removed from my DMX listing are ones that are fecked or MIA - all the others have addresses. ProSpots are addressed at 327, 343, 359, 375, 391, 407, 423, 439, 455 and 471. Stage ProSpots were designated ...

Interesting plan, but is removing the ProSpots in favour of the Movitecs the best idea? The Movitecs aren't particularly reliable. If you take the Movitecs off and then remove the last ProSpot or two (as they are in hospital), you will have a continuous batch of DMX from 1-180 and another from 455 ...

I'm not sure from the description if it does not already do this, but I would be careful with the amount of space used on stage. The last bop is generally has lots of Ents, SRC, SSC, etc who wish to be on the stage. This means that the standing area on stage has to be maximised, normally with an ...

The sequence does (sort of) make sense. Note that Windows NT (including 2000) was a different type of Windows to the consumer variants (3.1 etc.) until XP. The (consumer) sequence is as follows: 1.0 2.0, Windows 286 (2.1). Windows 386 (2.1 *) 3.0, 3.1 *, 3.11 * Windows 95 (4.0 *), Windows 98 (4.10 ...

if the next bop isn't til february, we can mess about with it in all that lovely free time after exams, and make stuff (or get a charity to do it - like they were my MINIONS! mwahaha :)) I would think that there will be at least one in January - what else do students do after their last examination ...

The Enigma is something I did look into and the following points are important: 1. A simple setup (10 minutes on the Pearl) will take about three hours on the Enigma. To do a decent rebuild will take weeks. 2. Changing the patch is difficult and may result in the loss of many programs in the desk ...

Gilbert and Sullivan - Patience (or Brunthorne's Bride)
Next week, as you will know, G&S's performance of Patience is happening. Almost all of the lights on FOH1 and FOH2 (29 of them) have been fully installed (as one does not have power). There is a pile of stuff (lights, cables, control equipment, etc.) at the back of stage on the left (looking towards ...

A simple (-ish) fix could be done as follows: At each male box split the through connection leaving the socket attached only to the DeMux end of the line. Then connect an XLR plug (which would fit the socket) to the other part of the wire. Then there should be one socket to plug the lighting desk ...

Doubt terminators would help - it might even make things worse if used on a branch. The general theory of RS-485 (the serial protocol used to drive DMX) is that a bus (with short banches) should be used, terminated at each end (note: one end is inside the lighting desk). In the highly unlikely event ...

I thought so. Does the splitter created at one of the middle "male boxes" create any problems from interference due to the unconnected portion towards the stage? An example of this ( http://www.dmx512.com/web/light/dmx512/term.htm ) where the "male box" is the twofer is: http://www.dmx512.com/web ...
